A HUGE congrats to Steve Barlow for finishing the Rocky Raccoon 100 mile run this weekend.  In under 24 hours for the special belt buckle I might add.  It rained cats and dogs before the start of the 100 and for the first 2-3 hours.  It rained again for a good hour just to make sure no one dried off in between loops.  You can imagine the trails were a muddy mess.

I am VERY impressed.  I think he is insane of course but....

Seriously Steve, major accomplishment.  What is next?  I cannot wait for the race report!!!!

Impressive indeed Steve! Congrats on not completing the 100 miles but also battling the elements and doing it under 24 hours of continuous running! That's awesome!

Hey guys, thanks for the thoughts.  It was kind of an experiment to see how things would go if I didn't change my training up significantly.  I had only been averaging about 20 miles a week of running since I was still riding and swimming.  I'm sure it could have gone better if I had gone run specific for a month or two prior, but that's ok.  It was a pretty epic day and I'm really in awe of the fast guys that can do 100 miles at an 8 minute pace in the mud.

Steve I am in awe...I thought you were nuts when I'd see you out at Rowlett doing 4-5 hour runs!

Congrats on a major accomplishment!  I'm not sure I could keep going for nearly 24 hours w/o sleeping...one thing's for sure, if I did I'd be REALLY cranky!

Wait a minute.  Did you just say you ran the 100 based on avg training weeks of 20 miles???????????????????????  How in the????????????????  Now that is the marathon training program I need!

Jami - I am not so sure about cranky but after hearing what Jerod ate on the 50 mile course and watching him consume two huge dinners after his race (and the biggest breakfast skillet I have ever seen) I know one would be HUNGRY!

Its hard to get my head wrapped around the idea of 100 miles. Dallas to Waco would be about 100.
